Fayette County Public Schools has chosen Troy Woods, a paraeducator at Russell Cave Elementary, as the Kids’ Champion for April 2025. Each month, our district recognizes an outstanding member of Team FCPS who makes a difference in students’ lives. Woods displays exceptional dedication to students and embodies these key characteristics: innovation, advocacy, empathy, knowledge, and a positive attitude.
The person nominated him wrote: “Troy Woods is the kind of person who makes a difference every day. He’s always going above and beyond for his students, making sure they feel supported and encouraged. You can always count on seeing him with a smile on his face, bringing positivity wherever he goes. He builds strong relationships and connects with students — even those who aren’t on his caseload — because he genuinely cares. He’s also the first to step in and lend a hand when other teachers or paras need support. Russell Cave just wouldn’t be the same without him!”
Superintendent Demetrus Liggins and Principal Alexander Butler surprised Woods with balloons and the Kids’ Champion Award, sponsored by Forcht Bank. The Fayette County Board of Education will also salute him at their April 28 action meeting.
If you know a Kids’ Champion who advocates for students and fosters a positive environment where all can thrive, you can nominate them for this districtwide recognition!
